CD REVIEW

The Antioch Road Band

“Antioch Road”

By Todd Norris/ITZ

I should start by saying that the cd hasn’t left my cd player in my Scout since I first got it. The more I listen to the songs from the Antioch Road Band’s new album, the more I want to hear. Their songs remind of the freedom of back roads driving, young love and losing it, and the struggle to rebel against all we’ve learned. In the mist of an over-saturated mainstream country scene and ever evolving rock ‘n’ roll radio play, these guys have found a way to distinguish themselves. The Album, simply titled, “Antioch Road”, is the mix of country, rock, blues and soul, that we have grown to love as Texas Country.  Just listening will put you in the shoes of anybody who thinks they are in their prime, but finding out that they have so much more to learn. The first few tracks show the confusion of being misunderstood, how they can hit a back road to clear their heads and then reveals the wisdom that few people ever find in excepting change. After seeing them live, hanging out and even working side by side with a couple of them, I can say, with certainty, that this is a story of their lives. From beginning to end, It doesn’t stop telling of their struggles, conquests, and the joy of growing. Without spoiling, what should be your next cd purchase, I’ll simply say that, this album nears the top of my list of favorites and is sure to spark a feeling, a memory, or at least make your foot bounce to the rhythm. The album, “Antioch Road” is due to be released on April 29th at a cd release party at Live @ The Warehouse , Huntsville’s newest live music venue on HWY 190 East, 2.5 miles east of downtown. The Antioch Road Band is scheduled to grace their stage at least 3 time this month. I hope to see you there.
